    RMR on a shotgun?

I'm contemplating running an RMR on either (or both) my Remington 870 or the Beretta 1301. I like the RMR as it has a nice low profile. Is there anyone running this setup? If so, do you run the optic closer to the rear or more to the front of the rail? What size dot do you prefer? Also open to other suggestions regarding optics on the shotgun. As a point of reference, the 870 has Vang Comp ghost ring sights and the 1301 is the Tactical version with Beretta's ghost ring sights.

Have mounted several types of RDS on shotguns; the RMR is nice, but I generally prefer a micro-Aimpoint on gauges.

Sample size of 2: I have had RMR06's flicker on/off under recoil on a 16" AR and a 9mm Glock (non-reciprocating mount). No way I'd trust one on a shotgun. For the same money I'd go with an Aimpont micro.

I have the RMR06 on a Benelli M2 in a Scalarworks mount. I haven't seen any flickering, but, while I've shot some slugs and buckshot, this gun sees mostly #7.5 gamer loads.

    My .02

I'm w/ Gary on the AP, have an H1 on an older VCS 870 which functioned flawlessly during a HITs SG class in Aug. 2014.

Liked that setup so well that I bought a 2nd (current gen) VCS 870 in early 2015, added a T1 to it which has also performed w/ out issues since that time frame, to include a Rangemaster SG class & bi-monthly 2G matches. It will be my primary SG @ a HITs SG tuneup in Nov., w/ the older VCS/H1 serving as my backup.

FWIW my first experience w/ RMRs was in 2011-2012 on a Glock, a lower 4 digit serial # RMR, that I had function issues w/ & turned it. Bought a 2nd RMR in 2014 that is in the 11000 ser. range (kudo's for Gary's tip) & it has performed thru some 4K rds. on my M&P CORE.

Used too much verbiage to say thanks to Gary & DB, AP's are my SG optics w/ some 1500+ rds. down range w/ my minuscule sample of two. That said I'm also looking forward to the new AP optic offering that I hope they intro @ 2017 SHOT for another pistol set aside already.

I have a shield PSD on my Valtrex PM-5. Eotech-type reticle.

It's the heat. I strongly recommend checking out the Shield optics just for reticle selection.

Plus we beat the hell out of them and they last. I still use aim points a lot, but I'm not convinced that there's anything unique about their durability anymore.

This is a thread where I built a boat I designed and which I very occasionally update with accounts of using it, which is really fun as long as I'm not driving over logs and blowing up the outboard.

How does the size of the window compare to a T1/2 and RMR? Do you like this on a carbine as well as a shotgun?

The window is similar to a t1; the surrounding frame is much heavier, though. I do have one or two on carbines also.
