I love Belgian Ales and especially the Trappist made stuff, my all time favorite is the Chimay Double, Total Wine just opened back up for walk in traffic and I figured it was time to see if any of the other Belgian Trappist Ales stood up to it...should be fun to find out.

That looks like a great selection! Did they have Cuvee des Jacobins Rouge?

Machine Gun Teddy from Goldwater Brewery in Scottsdale. It’s an American Brown Ale. It’s 6.7 ABV and it’s very tasty.

Goldwater Brewery in Scottsdale has some very nice beers. Their Hop Chowda is a very good hazy IPA.

But, the best is the Scottsdale location's bar. Solid copper and very comfortable.
No TVs, friendly bartenders and some very good people. Solid conversation.

Machine Gun Teddy is named after the prior store, Mandell's Shooting something or another.
It's sign was a teddy bear holding a Thompson.
In fact, the store had a shooting range in the basement, which is still there, along with the original sign.
The basement is now a 2nd bar.
They use the concrete lined tunnels as storage for the kegs.
The basement bar has some very very good beers.

called Uber several times from that place on Friday nights.

I didn’t know that about Goldwater Brewery. I shot in that basement many years ago. I remember disliking Mandell a lot.

I bought the MGT at one of their tasting rooms. I’ll need to check out the Hop Chowda. There was a Coffee Porter I need to check out too.
