There's nothing civil about this war.
It was ok. It's cool to see more breweries getting into sours, but I'm not really into fruit beer. If a lambic or kriek is still yeast-driven in taste, I can go for it. But this one was too fruity for my taste. Still, after 2.5 hrs of beatings and a bloody eye... it was pretty good.
I used to do a lot of mountain biking in Marin, and drank quite a bit of Lagunitas. Sometimes as the same time

A two-for:
Sierra Nevada Brewing Hoppy 40th Anniversary IPA
This is a medium-bodied take on a west coast style IPA with a dry resinous finish that reminds one of a rye-based ale. It's very good, different than their other takes on the style, and will be in production for the entire year, according to the company.
It's a bit jarring to me that I have been (legally) enjoying their beer since 1987...
Brass Foundry Cream Ale
A classic cream ale style beer from the local Brass Foundry Brewing in Long Lake, MN (they are north of Minneapolis by a few miles.)
This is an indigenous American beer style that is top fermented, but has a Lager-style finish to the brewing process. The Brass Foundry recipe is supposedly all-malt.
It's a little fizzy compared to some of the other local and state brewed examples (Urban Growler in St Paul and Castle Danger in Two Harbors MN make exemplary versions in this style)
but has a ripe stone fruit flavor in the aftertaste that is pleasant and refreshing. Also a tad sweet, but pleasantly so.
