Bonus because Mrs MMc is Jane
Neighbor knocked on the door yesterday evening and dropped off a few beers for me to try out:

Not bad. A cheap bourbon flavor beer. Not as bold as the barrel aged stuff, because it's aged on staves... still pretty decent for Budweiser.

How was that Founders Imperial Stout? It looks good!
Just a dog chauffeur that used to hold the dumb end of the leash.
Had one last night with some chili the wife had made. It's pretty intense and flavor forward. Strong at just over 10%.
It's in that range like "Narwhal" from Sierra Nevada which is another one I recently commented on.
I like stouts and porters but I'm not a big fan of overly intense, "in your face" flavor. This is almost a bit too much to share with a meal imho as it is complex and demanding.
I've had strong ales over 10% I really have liked, and some that just don't wow me. This is one I'd probably not rush out to buy. It does get a "97" rating on BeerAdvocate though, so your mileage may vary greatly.

I'll be trying this brown ale on Christmas Eve.
Newcastle is now brewed by Heineken at a different brewery than it used to be. Seems like so many of the old traditional favorites have been scooped up by a handful of giant conglomerates. That's primarily why I stick to independents more these days.
