Elixir of the Gods in a Crowler. Barrel aged sour red ale. 12%. Amazing.

Goldwater Brewery Java Jerry’s Coffee Porter. American Porter conditioned on Sumatra and Mexican Coffee Beans. It’s 6.6 ABV and it’s so good!

A pint and 6 oz size bottle of Epic Brewery Big Bad Baptist Imperial Stout consumed last Friday night led to me missing a match on Saturday.

I'd post a pic of a bottle that stuff I just opened for my dinner, but I already had a a few gulps and I don't give a shit about taking pictures anymore. 2018 rare release version feature Mexican coffee, cacao nibs, vanilla and cinnamon, 100% aged in whiskey barrels. 10.3% ABV.

I did a similar thing, with almost the same results. I drank a 12.5% barrel aged stout, and didn't hear my alarm for the registration opening time for a match. By the time I remembered, an hour had passed and the match was full. I managed to get in, but learned an important lesson

I WAS registered. I hadn't eaten all day long, cooked up delicious grass fed beef tacos, finished the above mentioned bottle, went to the couch, and found myself in my bed 4 hours later, at 10 pm. Attempts to fall asleep failed until 3 a.m. so there was no point of shooting a match on 4 hours of sleep.
That beer is a pure evil.

I told him no drinking after Wednesday, so he can do well at weekend matches.
Likes pretty much everything in every caliber.

What you gonna tell me do next, dry fire on Thursdays?
Fuck that. I'd rather drink my beer.

The coffee imperial stout is something that I love but can't drink too often. The sour IPA, however, has been a go to beer in summer. Really refreshing, and obviates the need to put a lemon on my fish. Win-win.

I’ve kind of gotten away from IPAs but my daughter and her fiancé buy me IPAs for gifts. Both of these were very good. The La Cumbre is brewed in Albuquerque with no ABV listed. It was very good.

The Lulupin Brewing Blissful Ignorance is a hazy double IPA and it’s one of the most likable IPAs I’ve had. It’s smooth but the hops aren’t overwhelming. The ABV is 9%.
