During my recent vacation to Prague I discovered a new beer to add to my favorite list. My wife and I really liked the Czech Kozel cerny. I tried to find it locally with no luck but I did find Hofbrau Dunkel and Iron Maiden Trooper beer. I admit I bought the trooper for the can. I also picked up a six pack of Yuengling Black and Tan Name: 69C400B2-02D3-4B96-A771-1F24432F6F67.jpg

I have found Shiner Bock in Erie County and now am well stocked. The Wegman's supermarket near me has a fine cheese selection and beer selection. Makes me happy.

I was gifted several bottles of Ayinger last year by my sister and brother-in-law for the holidays along with a few other German brews. Made for a nice change of pace.

    Deschutes Brewing Handup IPA

This beer is a nod to an older style; still west coast, but more akin to the original British versions of IPA. Modern citrus-y hops, but a medium body and middling bitterness. Nothing piney or dank. It has a drier finish than is usual with modern US- made IPAs.
It reminds me of C. 1988 Redhook Brewing "Ballard Bitter", or what I remember of Anderson Valley Brewing "Hop Ottin'" IPA. (Hard to find in MN or WI. Pity, that.)

The co-owner of Deschutes Brewing was a serious Cyclocross enthusiast, and led the company-sponsored team. He passed from cancer in 2018, and the staff decided to make the beer as a tribute. They donate a percentage of each barrel to cancer research.

    6.5% ABV, 65 IBUs

It’s a well-traveled bunny that lives in a purse. Not sure why it poses for pictures, but that’s a thing.

I have yet to find a grapefruit beer that I didn`t absolutely love. Not a fan of wheat beers, American, German, or Belgian. But grapefruit beer really sings to me, even in a wheat.

    I like Fresca, too
