If the girdle isn't viable I think the last best solution would be to just shoot him in the helmet. I don't imagine it's pleasant, and eventually we'll get to a failure point with any COTS product (either structurally or by the adversary taking it off to reposition).

If you can't shoot him in the face, but can shoot him in the head... Do it. Hopefully he'll follow the instinct to look at what's shooting him in the head... And then you can shoot him in the face.
