I know of one person--they went into respiratory arrest the first time someone shot them up with heroin, by pure luck were saved by prompt narcan and CPR, and have never done it again over the past 20 years or so...."Has there ever been an instance where someone was saved by Naloxone and immediately quit doing drugs? "
Facts matter...Feelings Can Lie
Probably largely for the best that such was their 1st IV heroin experience. I have been told there is no rush quite like it. Having the memory tainted by (hopefully effective) chest compressions and a trip to the ED probably took some of the shine off it.
By the way, I got the book you recommended yesterday and I am already halfway through it. Great read.
I also highly recommend Paul Kalanithi's When Breath Becomes Air if you have not read it yet.

Damn Doc. I'm through the preface and introduction and I'm already hooked.
I've been having some pretty Frank discussions with my 10 year old daughter about drugs and opiates in particular. She is very bright and is learning a lot from our conversations. I'm excited to be able to share some of this book with her.
Thank you for the recommendation.

What a nasty substance.
Can someone explain to me why Naloxone for nasal administration isn't an OTC drug?
