Alden covers the more refined side of things for me and Viberg fits more in the jeans and t-shirt realm, with loads of overlap between. I've not been disappointed with either and will buy more from both makers.

Were you looking at a specific model?
I'll have to take a look at those two places. I really like the Service Boot in Color 8 like this: https://viberg.com/collections/footw...=7502967341086

I have 3 pairs of Aldens but $1k for a pair of Viberg's seems pretty steep to me.

So the comparable Alden to that I own and they were almost $800. I don't think that's entirely off the wall for stitchdown shell.

Dark Star Gear as a company is poor AF and doesn't buy boots. DSG buys stuff to make more stuff and grows the business.

The black Allen Edmonds Normandy Boots are on sale for $197 - and an additional 30% coupon (code PLUS30) applies. Though my preference runs to the brown, this is a steal and I grabbed a pair of the black - $146 shipped. Still lots of sizes available.

Thanks for posting that. I've been interested in these boots in black for a while and at that price, it's worth trying.

I'd love those. Really kicking myself, almost as much as not buying the Ravello's that were in my cart...
