    10/22 trigger work

I have a 10/22 with Tac Sol barrel that I'd like to have worked over a little. I am not looking at competition grade quality necessarily - I just want a lighter, more crisp trigger. I had the stock trigger worked over a few years ago by an outfit but can't remember exactly which tier of work the did at the time. They replaced the actual trigger with a flatter aluminum trigger and it's OK but nothing special. It has a very hard, heavy breaking point and I'd like it lighter. I am specifically thinking something that would be easier and cleaner breaking for my kids to learn on.

Any suggestions for someone that is reputable and not way too expensive?

Maybe this is a stupid question - some quick GOOGLE'ing seems to point to Kidd drop in trigger assemblies for $200 (single stage) or $300 (two stage). Is this the way to go rather than sending it off like I did before and am not really happy with?

Try the Ruger BX Trigger. Its a drop in from Ruger.

I've seen them for about $69-$79. It is not a super-custom grade trigger by any means but its a damn sight better than the factory one.

Find a store that has one and you can actually dry fire the thing in the package to see if it fits the bill.

Quick edit/addition, apparently they are on sale here: https://grabagun.com/ruger-25.html

Volquartsen? Their drop-in trigger & sear were a big improvement to my Ruger pistol, but I have no experience with their 10/22 parts.

A shooter at my range is very happy with his Clark Custom 10/22.

I saw the Ruger BX and considered that. At $80 I was thinking I might as well spend $200 and get the Kidd. At $54 it seems like a good place to start. Thanks for the link. I just ordered one of those and a couple of other small items. I'll dry fire it in the package when it arrives and if it doesn't feel much better than what I have I'll just send it back.

Clark Custom at one time sold a trigger kit for the 10/22 that was $60 and was pretty easy to install. I don't compete with mine or anything, but I'm satisfied.

This is what I got on my newest 10-22. http://www.brimstonegunsmithing.com/...2-trigger-work Breaks at 2.5 pounds and very crisp. I have a "Target" 10-22 with their "Target" trigger. I bought a new trigger group from Brimstone and had them do the trigger job on it. I'm very happy with it. The folks at http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php all like the Brimstone.

Another thumbs up for the folks at Brimstone. Very happy with their work in every respect.

Maybe I didn't get the right Brimstone trigger then. That's who did my current trigger work. It's OK but not anything special. I'll compare it to the Ruger BX I ordered and report back. If it isn't markedly better I'll be ordering a Kidd.

I dropped a BX trigger in my 10/22. The trigger pull weight went from roughly 6.5 pounds to 3.5 without making any adjustments to the new trigger group. My performance in the local steel matches showed a marked improvement, especially on the Bill drill and the One Second Challenge.
    YMMV.

I have a Kidd Engineering 10/22. The only thing that is not Kidd is the receiver - that says Ruger. It is a hoot to shoot.

I do like the trigger a lot. But it's the only 10/22 I have ever had, so I only have a single data point.
