Sometimes more useful than a gun. Especially a slung rifle.

We just came back to town, and there was some deviating going on at the float base, because a bull moose was out swimming on the north end. We landed on the runway and missed that, but he showed up as we left the hangar. Busy morning of being a moose -- swimming followed by a salad.

This bad boy was hanging around between the airport and float base all summer. When we got back to town mid-September, I didn't see him, and asked what was up. Apparently someone shot him, which is illegal in town limits, and just left him in the side of the road. My wife and I were genuinely pissed off.

Up at the house we had a cow and two first year moose calves hanging around the house. Had to let the dog out carefully, and look before we would go out, as they were that close.

My buddy shot this moose with his bow, right at the end of moose season. Got dropped up in a Cub on floats, overnighted, saw a 70 something he could have taken with his rifle, but persisted, called this guy in, and shot him at 40 yards with the bow. I admonished him for not having a handgun on him, as there are plenty of brown bears in the area. Nice late season hunt.
