I've never taken one apart, but the trigger sure doesn't feel remotely close.

Laws of supply and demand. You only have to look at some ebay auctions to see that there are a lot of people out there with more money than sense.

I expect it to be rough as a cobb, but did it stack at the end?

$200, it's tempting to buy one just to crack it open... And here I swore off cheap guns.

edit2: It looks Mk3/Mk5 J frame ish... (Numrich schematics are the same for both, I think they changed the sintered metal to regular cast steel and maybe not much else?)

Nice! Always had a hankering for an Agent. I have a '58 Cobra that is my pride and joy D-frame.

Darryl told me these are “wadcutter revolvers” so I grabbed a box out of my stash of Winchester wadcutters and shot it first thing at the range today. First cyclinder, I got a failure to ignite on one cylinder, but then realized the Colt takes one more cartridge than I am used to.

Getting that squared away, and figuring out how to hold the grip and align the sights, I shot a cylinder between 12-15 yards.

Look forward to messing with this more, and I feel classier already!

I was at Cabela's today picking up a few things and they had a first issue Detective Special in very nice condition. The price was $950, which I find to be high, but it was hard to walk away.

They must have sold a whole freight train of D frames in Alabama over the decades. For the last 30 years, since I have been looking and buying, there always seems to be a few floating around our LGS in the central part of the state. Just saw a very shootable gen 2 DS go for $425 and a gen 2 Cobra go for $495 at a local shop.

Sadly what is happening now is a lot of the ones that show up in the LGS cases are estate sale deals. Original owner bought it, loaded it, stuck it in the nightstand for decades, passed away and the widow or kids dump it at the local pawn or gun store for whatever they can get for it.
