In Elmer Keith's autobiography he mentions having an ornery rooster on his farm. One day he went to shoo it out of the way with his foot and it buried both of it's spurs in his ankle through his boot. He yanked his revolver and shot the rooster dead, limped back in the house and told his wife they were having chicken for dinner.
Does anyone remember The Invaders from the 60s? It all makes sense now...
