I lived in Oregon at the time and had students who knew Tonya and said it was her the day after. Some of them called the relevant area police who said they were getting quite a few calls.
She wasn't as well known in Detroit. And it didn't take all that long to narrow it down, but Kerrigan alienated a lot of people.
