When I first moved here to NH, I worked for about a month for a very big, very old hotel in Jackson, NH.
One day we had a guest tell us that they thought they'd smelled smoke in their room.
Well, rather than call the fd to investigate the odor in an 1800s structure, maintenance will do it.
We eventually found that the problem was coming from the area in a ceiling, that just so happened to have a leaking toilet above. Opened the ceiling and found this :
Seems the only thing that kept the place from burning was the leak....
Lucky bastards.
