He doesn't really have a genre. That particular album was after a trip and collaboration in Japan and has a lot of Eastern influence. He also does more traditional old school country (see: Long White Line, Railroad of Sin), bluegrass (see: "Cuttin' Grass" album) and some that really don't fit in any ready label.
