My Mom was very mild mannered and good natured. One day around the time my little sister hit the teenage years Mom met Dad at the door as he was walking in from work and said “If you ever leave, she goes with you!”.

I can say for sure having them follow you at night back before the widespread issue of NVG on a no moon night is quite the experience. I met a guy who raised them and he treated the like pets till one gored him, had him on the ground then just walked away. He told me they were bad about killing dogs too they would use their heads to grind them into a mess.

A friend that worked on a buffalo ranch said to never trust them, they would be fine until they decided they were offended by your very existence. Can happen in an instant. They made the rule nobody went out in a pen or pasture with buff in it without a vehicle close at hand for refuge.
