Funnily enough, having publicly moped about missing the music life, I got recruited yesterday to go play in another band by a guy who played in one of the first bands I was in that ever went anywhere. He ended up getting somewhere in metal and put out albums with a few bands on Nuclear Blast records and last year-ish decided he wanted to do something more thrashy and less technical metal, so he scooped up the lead guitarist from my last band, who is really good but also really unpredictable.
That guy had kind of had it with me after years of being pretty close - like we were best man for each other's weddings close - but having to deal with me takes a toll and he got frustrated one day and sold all his gear. Anyway our mutual friend got him playing again...but the thing is, he blows hot and cold and lost interest without someone at his back pushing him along. That band waited for nearly a year for our old guitarist to get back into it but he never did, and finally they had an offer on the table from some metal label if they'd just get the album finished off so rather than abandon the material, the mutual friend contacted me and asked if I'd be willing to do vocals. They're re-tracking the guitars now rather than run with the stuff my friend did last year, so I get to just step into this ready-made project, belt out some words and feel cool again.
Sounds a bit like Bolt Thrower, or maybe Napalm Death meets Motorhead?
Record sales could easily be in the tens.
