In reference to Vicks Vapor rub.

As a rookie cop in 1976, I had as bushy a Porn star moustache as I could grow.

When I went on my first 'old' found body call the LT showed up to back me up since he knew it was probably my first one. He gave me a jar of Vick's and told me to coat the 'stache to kill the smell.

Yeah, right, nothing overcomes that smell. OTOH my sinuses were clear for the rest of the night.

BTW, up to that point I was pro-firemen. Kind of reconsidered because they didn't offer me an air pack.

My first was dead about two weeks before she went missing.
In an apartment, in August, in NJ.
No AC.
We went in with Scotts, but the smell was in our turnouts. Had to had them washed.
She's liquified a bit.
