I don't get the DDT one. Is that because DDT is safe and relatively non-toxic, so when they made it illegal, agricultural workers not used to the human toxicity of the replacements started getting really sick in droves? And there is no real replacement for DDT in developing countries, sentencing thousands of people to death every year?
