Those people shouldn't be so bearish on such things.
Over 20 years ago, I went to a Thanksgiving dinner that had a vegan table. They cooked their stuff in different pots and pans, sort of like keeping kosher. Something called "tofurkey" was their main course.
One of them asked if I wanted any tofurkey. I said sure, if they also had some real turkey. He declined and I said "you have your answer." He then asked if I would try it, and I said something along the lines of I'd rather shoot myself in the head.
My understanding is that vegans wear synthetic clothing. If it's made from petrochemicals, I don't see that as being better for the planet.
Maybe we eat to much meat. But humans are omnivores, not herbivores. We're basically naked bears.
