As a Infantry Platoon Leader- I was smart enough to trust my NCO’s were in the right spot. I did however fall into a creek on my first patrol with my Platoon.

First night ambush patrol exercise with the new Lt.
Right before we step off on the leader's recon he says in a whisper, "Follow the shadows" (there was a a full moon out).
We thought he said, "Follow the Shadow".
And there it was; his new nickname/call sign.
He ended up being a really good Lt.
