Saw a dead deer on our road yesterday. Saw two of them dash into traffic on a diagonal road crossing ours, yesterday. Not hit by a miracle. Worst one I saw was a deer run in front of an SUV, that launched it into the air. It landed in front of another SUV that launched it again, in front of a third. That one killed it.

It was tried in Russia IRL. After Bolsheviks came into power and abolished the hated institutions of the monarchy, such as the police, there was a period of Mad Max, after which they rebuilt the government. But of course, they could not call it "police", that would be bad. So they called it "red militia". And now, 25 years after the fall of Communism, they renamed their corrupt "militia" into "police". Miraclously, the public trust into the same people and same organization improved considerably after the rename. True story.

I got the "owls are badasses" presentation at a raptor rehab facility. Great Horned Owls apparently take over eagle nests and the eagles decide it's easier to build a new one than evict the owls.
