The IPA trend is straight up the worst thing to happen to bottled adult beverages since Smirnoff Ice. Hey guys, aren't you bored of this beer that actually tastes good? Let's make it trendy to pretend to like beer that tastes like it went bad.
I was in college during the absolute peak of this trend and when 50% of the beer options at any bar or liquor store are that garbage it gets frustrating.

Sometimes you need a change of pace. After various lagers and pilsners for years on end, I got into a Belgian ale thing for a while.
(And kinda hated hoppy stuff.) Lo and behold, when I needed a change of pace, I found I liked the hoppy stuff...(Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, Dogfish Head etc).
I let my taste decide. There are some brews I just can't abide. The name on the label is not the deciding factor.
There's nothing civil about this war.

Yeah. I guess I'm probably being a reverse hipster here, which is basically just also being a hipster. Drink what you like.
For instance, I really enjoy New Belgium's 1554, which a lot of people consider to be like drinking a loaf of rye bread.
Man, I was a fatty in college. But it was fun.
