I rarely ever borrowed a parents car. The only time I remembered was I asked to borrow my moms car to get a part for my car’s clutch. She said I couldn’t drive her car, cause it had a stick shift.

It took her literally sitting in my car to convince her I drove a stick daily. Mom wasn’t to interested much in her kids life.

Dad and I had a deal, he parked outside, I parked my Austin Healey Sprite in the garage, he got to drive it.

The top stayed down (off actually, it was an old enough one it rolled up and went in the trunk) all summer unless one of us got caught in the rain. In the winter I pushed it around on the floor jack to put it up against the wall in front of Mom's car.

Or the fact you needed a part for the clutch, proved you couldn't drive a stick shift (grind, grind).

That’s like saying if you need to replace a recoil spring, you don’t know how to shoot.
