Hey man, how else are we supposed to protect our cats from those wily coyotes?

We have a decent coyote population here but the fox are really good at controlling the local cat population. Cute little things too. It’s been a while back but one of the local females liked to lay in the sun in middle of the street while the pups played. She didn’t care at all about being watched as long as you didn’t move her direction.

I am usually of the opinion that if your pets are small enough and clueless enough to get eaten by the local wildlife (coyotes, birds or prey, etc.), well, that’s nature.

I once had a black cat that was the sweetest little thing, but the local rabbits (and every other small critter) probably didn't think so. She would pull bats out of the air at night from up on the roof, and show up at the back door with them still squirming in her mouth. If you didn't notice she had it, she'd make a beeline toward the food dishes and get ready to kill and eat it there. Civilized little beastie, she was. When the sound of her footsteps on the ridge ended suddenly one night, we figured it was an owl.
