I would be interested in hearing more about this, as well. Well, interested in the "or more" part, not just use as a range toy. I need to figure out some way to put an optic with some magnifying capability on my AR, as low-budget as possible, and from what I've read and seen the Strike Eagle seems like a clear winner in the budget category. But very few sources I know I can take seriously have taken a serious look at one. Also, the weak illumination does concern me a bit.

I've got the 1-6 and 1-8 coming thanks to cstactical.

Once I get them and hit the range I'll post up an initial impression with photos.

Does the 1-8 have the exact same reticle/illumination as the 1-6?

It does not have the same reticle:

I prefer the reticle on the 1-8 for an AR 'Do it all scope.

The 1-6 reticle is nice at distance but for close / fast not so much.

I'd like to see it with the circle and center dot lit up and the lines stay black.

Don't get me wrong, for the price it is a good scope but my SE 1-6 will likely be moved over to a bolt or lever gun.

I've owned one for 18 months and just bought another one last week.

First off, I'm in no way a pipe hitter, operator or LEO. I do run n gun biathlons which can be hard on equipment. I also like to have weapons and gear that would fare well should I have to use it in a home defense role. .

I don't get the illumination problem some are discussing. Mine are visible in bright daylight. Most of the time I have to keep it low because it can be too bright. It also holds a zero even after hard use.

Is it a razor, swaro or S&B? Of course not, but it's a fraction of the price and does what's it's supposed to period. I have the means to spend $$ pretty freely but for my use I just can't justify spending 2x, 3x or more when this package works so well.

    Here's the obligatory ending... YMMV.
