    Benelli M1S90 Entry Help

I have a Benelli M1S90 14" Entry model that I bought last year. It was a new-in-box HK import gun with rifle/notch sights on the barrel and pistol grip stock. I have the following issues with the gun:

    1) It won't run Federal LE1321B
    2) POI is high compared to the sights with both slugs and shot
    3) I'm debating ditching the PG stock for a straight stock.

I shoot a Benelli M1 in 3gun and that gun (28" field model with 12 round magazine) runs cheap Wal-Mart bulk 100%. I've read about Benelli's being weight sensitive due to the inertia system, but it seems that starting with a smaller/lighter gun (the 14" entry gun) should push the odds more in my favor. I do have a Surefire forend on the entry gun. Maybe I need to try shooting it without the light, but for an HD gun I definitely want the light.

From what I understand, lots of agencies ran/still run the Benelli Entry just like I have with Surefire forends. What does this come down to? A different spring? Different ammo? More break-in? Also, any thoughts on PG vs straight stock? I prefer straight due to my familiarity with it and ergos from 3gun, but also think the PG has merit for one-handed use in an HD situation (opening door, holding phone, child, etc).

I have a Benelli M1 with the same sights, and it shoots Brenneke slugs POA/POI. JDM has the mate to that Benelli, and as I recall, it also was POA/POI. I don't recall function problems with them, but I tend towards high brass #6, full power buck and Brenneke or Winchester 2.75 full power slugs. I also have a M2 with a 14 inch barrel, that I have noted no problems functioning with.

I would change the stock, before trying to adjust the sights, to see if the stock is a factor. You can likely file that rear sight to bring down POI if necessary.

I may borrow the stock off the 28" gun to confirm the fit, poa/poi before buying one for the 14". I guess maybe I need to run a few more full-house loads to ensure it's not break-in. The gun has had maybe 25 high-brass rounds through it. It just aggravates me that the holy grail DocGKR load won't run the gun. It must be sprung heavier than my Field gun.

I would lube and try some full power loads. Then, depending upon what you learn, I would remove the fore end and test again with the low recoil stuff.

Are you using the "push-pull" technique? A hard push-pull especially with a pistol grip stock can choke up an M1.

Well, I got the gun running. The Surefire forend was too heavy it seems. I went back to the stock forend and it runs 100% even with 1200 fps target loads (Remington Gun Club). LE1321B runs perfectly as well. Still wanting a light on the gun for HD, I got a Nordic clamp with rail and threw on an X300U. Everything still runs perfectly. Finally, I added a Limbsaver pad to make the gun a bit more pleasent to shoot - still no issues. At this point I'm pretty well set with it for function. Just need to get it on paper again and confirm zero with buck and slugs.
