I loaded up a batch of a gentle softball load for plinking recently.

    Berry's 230gr plated RN
    3.8gr Clays
    Mixed brass
    Rem LPP
    1.260" COAL
    0.471" crimp

Feeds in all my stock sprung 1911s, ejects cases about 5 feet to the right, and recoils more like a 147gr 9mm load than a hardball .45.

It's plated, so it's not going to give you X-ring results, but it's good enough for 10-ring at 25.

I haven't begun loading it yet, but I will be doing a run with the same projectiles and specs except I will be loading 7.0gr of BE-86 and using Win LPPs. So, instead of a low-to-mid 700s for velocity downrange... should be more like low-to-mid 900s. Might be fun for bowling pins.

Found a decent mid-range defensive load with XTPs that my TRP enjoys:

    200gr Hornady XTP
    7.0gr BE-86
    1.230” COAL
    0.469” crimp
    Starline brass
    Win LPP

I use a 6 o’clock hold for consistency when load testing. This load shoots to POA, right on top of the front sight.

    My preferred IDPA load

This is the load I’ve worked up to emulate the soft recoil of Federal 150 gr Syntech, with better precision and less than half the cost.
I use in Beretta 92s, but it’s been reliable and accurate in a USPc9 and a G19.5, as well as my CX-4 carbine.
It does NOT have enough energy to run a Glock 26.5.

9mm load to make IDPA PF
    147 gr X-Treme RN plated
    3.5 gr HP-38
    1.105COAL
WSP primer (also good with Federal Match and GINEX)

In order to make SSP PF with 147 gr bullet, needs to be 851+

    Chrono’d in Mar 2023 from a 4.7” barrel:
    Avg: 880 fps
    Low: 860
    High: 906
