    Update

Currently running remanufactured plated round nose 147gr at 900 fps with reduced gas plug and -25% springs in an 8”.

When using this ammo in a suppressed MPX, increased the springs to -13%.

Plated round nose is much less maintenance heavy than the polymer Syntech that clogs the gas system.

Are MPX muzzle devices rocksetted like Rattlers? Most of my tools are packed, and I want to know what I’m in for.

Our agency (full auto) MPXs did not have Rocksett applied.

    I think mine were Rocksett.

Just keep in mind that MPX are left hand threads.

I’m guessing it’s good practice to Rocksett QD mounts, even with SIG tapers? I picked up DA KeyMicro FHs preparatory to getting a Wolfman.

    Reliability thoughts

So I had an experience recently with the JP5 when it would blow cases backwards early because lube that made me think a little bit about one of the variables with the MPX.

One of the issues with the MPX when shooting wimpy ammo is that there are some intermittent weak ejections that sometimes don’t get thrown clear and cause jams.

Part of the thought is to turn up the gas but that actually can make things worse in testing when the cartridge gets blown off the extractor.

One of the prevailing thoughts for the MPX is to run it sloppy wet, but I got to thinking what happens when or if the chamber gets oily. Or if the cases pick up oil on their way into the chamber.

That might explain why lower power ammo that doesn’t have the brass bulge sealing property of duty ammo fails more?

I might experiment with running a wet bolt carrier but a reasonably dry bolt head and clean and dry chamber with super clean and dry ammo cases.

Not sure if that’s contributing here because I would expect to notice some “poof” if the cases were backing out of the chamber and early unlock.

But I think more attention to clean and dry chamber and cartridges might help.

SIG redid the Copperhead to remove the stock/brace “ears” and also dumped the Copperhead-K, the 4.5” black one with monolithic upper and removable muzzle device. It looks like they are rethinking the whole MPX pistol market. Not surprised…
