    RA556B vs my first deer

    Ra556b
16.1" Daniel defense with surefire 556-212
    25m to deer
Deer ran 70m down a hill and expired before I reached it (2-3min?)
Deer was a doe, approximately 100# in weight.
Heart was hit, as we're both lungs. Heart was ruptured in several places from hydrostatic shock, in addition to the physical bullet path.

Very nice. What other rounds have you used against deer? Mind posting a pic of your rifle set up?

Seems very similar to the results I've seen with Federal Fusion 223 ammo. Deer were quite a bit larger and at further range, but the wounds were similar.

It's amazing how far a deer can run with a perfect lung-heart-lung shot... Even with a perfect hit from a much larger rifle.

A few years back I took a 150 yard running shot that felt really good, but I didn't hear the impact or see a hit. I doubted my hit initially. Get over the hill and find the 7mm Rem Mag round took out both lungs and the heart, but the animal made it 200 yards with a blasted pumping station.

Also shot a deer trotting 1/4 to me that went down hard on the hit, and then jumped up and ran about 40-50 yards. By the time I re-acquired it was back down and after gutting I found the heart was shredded completely.

Good job! I've seen similar results with 62gr Federal Fusion.
