Just an asshole with an opinion; and a near Glock specialist to boot - but I'll bet Sig P series would rate highly for those in the category of shooting sick with a totally stock pistol.

    Now let's see.

What's the difference between God and a pilot?

    FAMS use stock P229 357s.

A coworker is a former FAM.....he stated the average score at his office was 293/300 on the PPC. As a frame of reference, I can max the very, very similar FLETC PPC without too much work, and I'm an intermediate FAST, 10s Farnam, 170ish 200-Drill, and have never cleaned a Dot Torture past 5 yards....best was 48/50 at 7 yards, IIRC.

DSS in general, even not MSD, get substantially more firearms training than most any federal agency I personally have specific knowledge of....especially now that the 11 week High Threat course is possibly going to be foundation basic agent training....and I wouldn't call it "to a high standard" in terms of shooting....more like getting people to a skill level they should actually be at for a professional instead of the very low proficiency liability-driven standard most LEA's mandate.

A 293 average is pretty good for an entire office compared to most Fed LEA's. Remember George Carlin's comments regarding average IQ's.

You remind me of a stats seminar I was sent to where the instructor had an epic line: "We are average managers because we manage averages."

Sorry to say, but not even close.

Really, there are no "groups" of people who shoot at a high level. Only individuals. If we get past the high level part, then some groups meet high professional standards. Which is a different thing, really.

With the phase out of the Pro's in favor of a G17 in almost stock format, you could probably list HRT or the Field Office SWAT teams. As 'groups' who shoot Glocks at a high level.
