    9mm Suppressor Conversation

I think it's time for a can. I shoot pistols the most and all I have are 9s. I want the best quality and most compact 9mm can available. To that end, I'm looking hard at the AAC Ti Rant 9S.

Is there a better option than this, keeping in mind my desire for compactness?

I'm completely green when it comes to the suppressor world, so if the 9S is totally retarded please let me know.

    Thanks!

I'm reading about the SF 9Ti now. Its decreased diameter is quite attractive. I really hate changing sights. . .

Don't rule out shooting standard sights using the occluded eye method. Basically using your sights as a red dot. I believe several folks around here do that and it works well for them. As an example of what I mean, take your trigger finger and draw your aligned sights on it. Hold it at arms length and you should be able to see through it in a sense. I find three dots work well here as a black rear can get lost against the back of the suppressor in dim light. I guess if you don't already have 3 dots, you are probably looking at new sights anyway. Then you might as well get tall sights. Just thought I would share that they are not needed by everyone.

I'd lean towards the Griffin Revolution with a red dot for sights or an SiCo (SilencerCo abbreviation) Osprey if you're worried about the sights being blocked. Surefire makes expensive stuff that isn't as quiet as the cheaper competitors.

Griffin Rev 9 in the K config - hearing safe all day long.

Definetely quieter in full size config but I choose shorter vs quieter.

Hansohn Bros was down a few weeks back and we metered the Rev 9 on my 19 in both configs and on his 9" 300BLK with subs.

    Round numbers from memory -

    G19/Rev9 full size- 124DB (147s)
    G19/Rev9 K - 132DB (147s)
    300BLK SBR - 143DB

The little metering I've done with Chris (Hansohn) has taught me that Youtube vids and internet DBs reports (like the ones I just posted - DOH!) are almost useless. You have to hear them, IN PERSON, to really make a fair judgement for yourself. Tone, blowback tolerance etc are subjective. For example, the K config doesnt sound, to ME, 8 DBs louder.

LL, PM me your availability this week and next.

Even with the Osprey, the sights are still blocked. Unfortunately I have a stigmatism in one eye that screws up shooting with occluded sights (puts shots far to the left) so I always prefer tall sights that clear a suppressor.

My AAC Ti-Rant 9 is my favorite suppressor. Got a great deal on it last year, right as the 'Damn the Man' promotion was expiring, and though it was a while before I could redeem the credit, it paid for a 3-lug adapter. I've used the Ti-Rant with my Glock 17 and a HK MP5-PDW. No issues to report.

    Not compact, but awesome.

Osprey 45K. Thompson Poseidon 9 for ultra compact.

I'll second JSGlock34 about the Ti-Rant 9. It works great on my G19, Sig P320c, and Uzi SBR. Suppressor height sights are nice, but if you shoot with both eyes open and have a reasonably high vis front sight, they really aren't needed.
