.300 Blackout gel test: 125 gr REAPR

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXoTUk1-r1w

125 gr REAPR fired from 8" 1:7" AR into calibrated 10% ordnance gelatin.
    BB calibration: 597.3 fps, 3.6"
For reference, the gel block is approximately 14" long.

Big thank you to Ed Avila of AR15.com for providing the upper and ammunition for testing.
In case you missed the test of the 200 gr subsonic version: https://youtu.be/fTne55R3dK8

Sorry for my delay in responding, but another good test Andrew. That is a pretty impressive result. I wonder how it would work with denim, given what you showed with the 200 grain version.

It has a polymer tip and higher velocity rounds tend not to be plugged by clothing anyway. Shouldn't make any difference.

  4. #4
That being the case it strikes me that could be a pretty effective anti-personnel round.

  5. #5
Absolutely. It's designed for hunting, but I think it would be a good defense load too.

I don't think rifle rounds are tested with denim or heavy clothing tests, are they?

Rifle velocity is the key. The reason is that, at rifle velocity, heavy clothing doesn't make a difference. As seen in this test, it certainly can at low velocity.
