Need a recommendation. I spent six hours going about 500 miles an hour today, but it isn't for me -- wife is getting a Charger 392 SRT.

Likes pretty much everything in every caliber.
I love my Valentine 1 but you will need the accessory to quiet some of the stray radars in the bands. If you go with another, you don't know what they filer and quiet.
It's no fault of any detector what or what they don't false but I would rather have control with the V1 and software to filter out what truly isn't radar. http://www.rdforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=16
I sold my V1 when I sold my M3.
I used the V1 and an iPhone app called "waze"; together, they provided excellent situational awareness.
Ran Cincinnati Microwave Escort in 1979.
Have run Valentine for years, probably the best unit out there.
Valentine is I believe where the founders of CM ended up.

Take a look at the Escort Passport 9500ix. Uses GPS to help cut down on false alarms and warn you when approaching red light cameras. Been a few years since I've researched, but the tests I recall seeing showed the 9500ix did better (more sensitive/better range) than the V1 with some test scenarios and the V1 better on others depending on radar band and conditions.
In any case, they're a tool in the tool box that work best when you combine them with good awareness and knowledge of where you're more likely to find police running radar. It's important to note, however, that LIDAR guns are getting more common and once your detector has warned you about one nearby, you've likely already been tagged. It is still legal to jam laser in most locations, however, unlike radar.
How about you just obey the law? It'll be cheaper in the end. As someone who's been on the other end for a long time, radar detectors are a false sense of security.
We may lose and we may win, but we will never be here again.......
Instant on radar is a bitch! Bwahaha as I watch the nose of the car dip.
