    Week 133: Finding Your Level

    Week 133: Finding Your Level

Results may be posted until November 9th, 2015.

    Designed by CCT125US
    Range: 5yd
Target: Shape Target V4 MOD (attached)
    Start position: varies
    Rounds fired: 10

This drill is designed to improve shooter accuracy and speed. Shapes can be shot in any order. You will need a shot timer for levels 2-4. When you can shoot a level clean, twice in a row, it is time to increase difficulty. When a shooter cleans level 4 twice, increase rd per shape by 1.

Please see the target for a further description of the various Levels.

Please report the following when you post your results in this thread:

Pistol and holster used (if applicable)

    Level attempted

    Hits for each shape

Please feel free to report multiple runs/advancing in levels.

    Level 2 from the ready.

Tried level 3 after two clean runs of level 2. Couldn't make the times on level 3.

Cleaned level 1 with my borrowed ruger .22! Did level 2 a few times and cleaned it one or twice but usually had some misses. Gonna keep shooting this some more. I like it.

I gave the wife 3 magazines and a quick run down on the loading and unloading specifics of this ruger and off she went. She came back with this! One proud (and scared) husband!

Pistol and holster used (if applicable) : G19 gen 4 from the ready

    Level attempted : 1

    Hits for each shape :
    1) clean, -1" square
    2) clean, -1" square

I started each run with the 1" square and even if I missed I finished the drill. So the first run of each attempt was clean and the second run I missed the 1" square. So needless to say I couldn't clean the drill twice to move on to level two. Will try again next week.

I "know" I can clean Level 1. But I've grown to become a big proponent of answering questions like "can you do X?" with just trying to do X then and there and finding out for real. So, in that vein, here is me shooting Level 1 clean twice, on demand.

Now for the business. I struggle with Level 2 a lot, and always have. I always shoot from smallest to largest. The 2" dot is almost always the worst for me, which makes no sense since I feel I do better shooting dots at 7 yds and Dot Torture at 5 yds all the time. I rarely clean it.

Well there's a first time for everything. I shot the 2" clean in the par time, and fucked everything else up. Unbelievable. I had terrible technique on the 3" and 4". Especially the 4": I could feel myself just wiggling the gun at the target and slapping away with no care for sights or trigger.

    -1, clean, -2, -2
2.65s on #4; rest in par time

    Waaaay out west.
I was able to get to the range on Sunday and ran this drill. I completed this drill as a test and I shot it from concealed, once.

Beretta Elite II, Appendix holster and Blackhawk mag pouch under a knit shirt.

    1) 1.83 clean
    2) 2.71 clean
    3) 2.65 clean
    4) 2.74 clean

So I guess that puts me somewhere between level 2 and 3. I think it's a great way to test yourself and it gets me away from the FAST, which I am currently sucking on badly.
