    Winter Hat and shooting muffs

Winter is coming and I wear winter hats to keep this shaved head warm. However they don't allow a really good seal for muffs for hearing protecting. I know I could use foam plugs but I want to try to keep wearing muffs. Anyone have any solutions to have be able to wear a winter hat and use ear muffs or have had this issue before?

Winter hat is a pretty broad term. Would muffs with behind the head band help?

I have an almost spandex like one from Under Armour that works very well, almost too well. It didn't work too bad with ear pro (Sordins+gel).

The muffs band isn't the issue. It is the bad seal I get from muffs over the hat which is already covering my ear.

The military style BDU ball cap that has the inner ear flap may work. Filson has a more expensive version http://www.filson.com/men/hats-and-c...cloth-cap.html

How about out of the box: A scuba diving hood?

So for example, on dives between 60 and 75 degrees, or at night, I use a black darlex (synthetic, equivalent to 2 mm wetsuit) hood. It fits snugly and I would think something like that, or maybe just lycra (thin synthetic) would allow the use of earpro?

A thin, lightweight synthetic skullcap that does not cover the ears, and then a hood type thing worn over the whole head including earpro, perhaps?

Cut round holes for the ears in a ski mask :P

Op, do I take you correctly that you want to wear a hat that (partially) covers your ears, and also wear ear muffs?
