Happy PFestivus! I've got a lot of problems with you people.

Exactly one year ago we began a P-F tradition of observing PFestivus.

    The rules were as follows:

For the next couple of days, this thread is going to be wide open for comment. What does "wide open" mean? It means no personal info, no threats, nothing illegal. If you advertise, post porn, or threaten to kill anyone I'm going to destroy your account...but aside from that if you've got an opinion, let's hear it. If there's something on your chest, now's the time to get it off.

I'm listening. So are other members of staff.

I'd only say this: What is said in this thread is going to live in this thread. Forever. It will not be pruned. It will not be trashed.

    Go for it.
The same rules apply this year. This is your chance to get whatever is bugging you off your chest. Go for it.

    Remember, remember...the 14th of September....

Calling people out (including Staff and SMEs) by name is perfectly acceptable, as is calling out other sites or blogs. It must stay in THIS THREAD.

I really enjoy coming to this forum to learn new things and ask stupid questions...

But one thing I have noticed is with the fact that more and more new people are signing up, the more and more old topics are being brought up. It's inevitable in the life of a forum, and for the most part easy to gloss over, but maybe some threads could be identified as good ones to read before posting. I'd hate to see this place be flooded with a bunch of "what am best gun?" threads.

Aside from that keep up the great work PF Staff and SMEs!!

A very legit and valid point, but in my experience when a forum gets successful and the membership grows, all the old questions always get asked again no matter what administrative measures are in place. "READ THIS" = people ignore it. "STUCK THREAD" = people ignore it. I'm not saying we're not open to doing stuff like that (and we already *do* have a reference section with some pretty decent fundamental topics) but the best way to handle this usually is patient members who can steer n00bs to older threads.

Not much to complain about, here. PF is the only place that I pay to be a member of, which says what I think about the value for money.

My only suggestion would be to consider adding sub-tier forums, below Regional Training, for Regions:

    https://pistol-forum.com/forumdispla...ional-Training

Right now, all "regions" are lumped into a linear list.

Which is ok, I guess, but it'd be (for me) easier to go to my region to either post a question, or review of a shop, or have a discussion with folks that are geographically close.

For example, I would maybe want to sponsor a p-f.com get-together here in Tampa at my local gun range. It'd be nice to put that in the region-specific sub-forum for my area.

Organization be up to what makes sense, but could be something like:

    US/Canada
    -- California
-- Great Lakes (IL, IN, MN, OH, MI, WI)
-- Mid-Atlantic (DC, MD, DE, PA, VA, WV)
    -- NY / NJ / CN
-- Southeast (AL, AR, GA, FL, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN
-- Great Plains / Rocky Mountains
-- New England (MA, ME, NH, RI, VT)
-- Pacific NW (OR, WA, ID, HI, AK)
-- Southwest (AZ, NM, NV, OK. TX, UT)
    International
    -- Canada
    -- Australia
    -- UK
    -- Europe
    -- Asia

On p-f.com, there are 149 threads in Regional, vs. 15,967 on the rest of the site, or a ratio of about 0.009.

I am on a fancy-pants German car forum, with 823,748 total threads, 9,720 of which are in Regional. This is a ratio of 0.012, or 10X what PF has in regional .

I think a bit of that is due to the fact it's in sub-forums.

It's still early in NM, but I'm not sure I follow your math.

I'm not opposed to having more regional sub-forums (if fact, I believe I argued for them when the Staff discussed it years ago), but keep in mind PF is a pretty small place. We currently have less than 1300 active members (where "active" means someone has visited the forum at least once in the past 30 days).
Due to this, I don't think there's any need for regional sub-forums....at all.

Not to mention with this advent of these new fangled things called vee-hickles, it's not uncommon for people to travel across regions for shooting matches or classes.

It'd be more of a factor if this was a huge car forum with regular regional meetups.the forum I was a part of, IWSTI, had very active regional meet ups. The forum was huge compared to here, and it'd still be a small group of people, relatively to how many were actually in that region.

You are right, I made an error in computation. My bad.

I need to go clean my calculator with Fireclean.
