High Score (Netflix) - A playful look back at some of the high points of video games from the 70's through the 90's. It's not exactly a documentary - sometimes it feels like they spent a few minutes talking about whoever agreed to an interview - but it's still a fun trip down memory lane for gamers that grew up in that era.

Started watching Ajin: Demi-Human. Normally wouldn't appeal to me, but I gotta say, the storyline and execution exceeded my expectations and have my attention.

The basic premise is that a dude unwittingly finds out that he is (basically) part of a class/race of immortals (the Ajin), normally considered dangerous to society and pursued by the government for torture/study. When others around him find out he's an Ajin, drama and action break out.

Not sure I'd put it on a "must watch" list, but if someone's bored with the normal Netflix/Hulu rotation and wants to expand horizons, I'd recommend checking it out. Definitely worth a second look even if your initial inclination is "anime's not my thing".

We just finished it last night. It starts pretty good, and gets great.
“Two Thumbs Up” from the Gyro household.

Re watched the movie “Drive” last night. IMHO, perhaps a film. Had not seen it since it’s theatrical release in 2011/2012.

The musical soundtrack, the visuals, dialogue and lack thereof at key times were all excellent

Albert Brooks with serious balls was a bonus.

Check out Only God Forgives by the same director with Gosling. Very auteur, very slow and stylized...rewards being watched and discussed more than once.

I only saw it once, but I liked it. Need to give it another watch.

I'm now caught up on the 2 episodes out so far of season 2 of Mandalorian. Fairly entertaining episodes, but haven't moved the story along much.

    Evil on Netflix. 10 episodes.

Series about a Catholic team that interviews people who want exorcisms or claim miracles.

The new team member is a Forensic Psychologist who is an unbeliever, played by Katja Herbers(Westworld). She is recruited by the Assessor, Mike Colter(Luke Cage) a priest in

training. The third member is a technical support specialist Aasif Mandvi(The Daily Show) who is not merely an unbeliever, but a scoffer.

The show follows their activities as they begin to find a series of unrelated monstrous crimes that starts to look like a conspiracy of evil.

They are confronted by a man played by Michael Emerson (Emmy winner Person of Interest) who is a facilitator, a man who deliberately does as much evil as he can.

He gets innocents put in prison, helps the guilty avoid prosecution and recruits and grooms mass murderers.

This is pretty darn good TV(CBS) Think of the X-files without aliens but with much more viciousness. Interestingly, the show itself is an unreliable narrator, not always differentiating between

reality and dreams or hallucinations. This creates a sense of palpable unease.

There is rape, child murder, psychosis and some truly frightening ideas in the series. It's been renewed for season 2 but delayed by the Covid.

Good cast chemistry, some excellent supporting characters and well written episodes made it binge worthy for me.

I've been enjoying season 1 of Fargo.

Don't tell me what happens, but I am really hoping Lester dies horribly and often.

Watched a series (10 episodes) on Prime called "Wayne". The story is about a teenaged boy and girl going from MA to FL to try to claim the boy's dead dad's Trans AM. They end up being pursued by a gaggle of misfits.

    Quite good.

I watched WAYNE over the weekend. It was one of the most entertaining shows that I've watched in a while.

It's a little twisted but so is my sense of humor. I highly recommend it.
