I somehow ended up on a John Krasinski kick this weekend.
Had the house to myself Friday night so on a whim I watched A Quiet Place. Horror movies normally aren't my jam at all, but I wanted something different and it didn't disappoint. Not much gore, mostly suspense and a few kicks right in the feels. I liked it a lot.
That lead to Saturday night all of us (me, wife and daughter) watching 13 Hours. I had seen it before but they hadn't. The girls like action movies, and it was an opportunity to talk to the daughter about the incident.
Sunday we binge watched season 1 of Jack Ryan and are starting season 2 now.
We've enjoyed all of the above. I get a kick out of watching Jim from the Office shoot people, and the girls think he's dreamy, so it's a win/win.

Have you watched Midnight Diner on Netflix?

It''s sort of like 1950s-1960s American TV, but with frankly sexual content and food porn. Balm for the soul.

Finished season five of Better Call Saul two nights ago. Started a rewatch of Breaking Bad last night. I forgor Walter White almost blows his head off, but is saved by the engaged safety on a 645/4506, leading to the clack of a dead trigger.

Super bad gun handling by Hank in ep.1, and dumb talk about the .40 vs. 9mm.

Hank really evolved as a character. In his Saul appearance, his buffoonery is obviously mostly a facade he keeps up of for the morale of his people.

    VERDICT--Waco, Netflix.

Utter bullshit. The disconnect with reality is startling. Everything from who shot first, the friendly sheriff that "could have talked them out", to how the fire was started, the manner of the victims' deaths...there's not a single relevant point that they got correct. That they threw the ATF and HRT under the bus to make whitewash the legacy of a monster, nearly two decades after it was revealed most of the dead had been executed before the fire started, is sickening.

    NOT SHIT SELECTION--Bird Box, Netflix.

Good scares, excellent tension. Doesn't rely on "jump scares" to thrill.

Re-watching "End of Watch" (on Netflix)

Just as good as the first time.

Funny - I just did that a few weeks ago.

I figured I'd give Ozark a try since some of it is filmed about 10 minutes from my house. It seems pretty good so far, but I can tell it's going to be another series that has no one to root for because everyone is a criminal or a sleaze (some overlap). Sort of like Breaking Bad, which I couldn't stop watching even though I would despise all the characters in real life.

Stick with it, Mark, I think you'll find it worth the ride. Especially this most recent season.

Oh my yes. It just gets better. And it has some sympathetic characters, IMO.
