When I worked in South FL, many of the Cubans would regale me with tales of either relatives or folks known to them who were "Colonels" of Cuban Intelligence. I never met one who referred to someone of lesser rank and it left me wondering who actually did the work.
Similarly, everyone's father, uncle or brother was a doctor or lawyer and they all owned tracts of land in the old country that stretched "as far as the eye could see".
In response to this I photocopied a map of Cuba, renamed it "La Isla de Médicos" and divided the land mass into three roughly equal sections purportedly owned by the families of three Cuban-American federal agents I worked alongside. It became so popular in its gilt frame that when I retired I had guys literally fighting over it. You have to laugh.
There's nothing civil about this war.
Just got back from Atomic blonde...
When a movie is based in the late 80s it should have a lot of late 80s stuff. Like watches, guns and suppressors.
Also a film based in Berlin in that time period should have actors who could speak proper German and Russian, neither of which seemed to be on the menu. Most of the translations were off too.
Action was good but you could tell it was not her in some scenes and choreographed in others.
Entertaining though, in a nostolgic way, especially with the late 80s euro clubs which led to all sorts of experimenting...
Ohh Stolichnaya vodka, Carl bucherer and one or two other companies definitely sponsored the film.
I'd recommend waiting for dvd or a late night showing on skinimax.

I recently watched all 10 episodes of Shooter on Netflix over 4 days. I thought the last few episodes could have been better. The beginning sucked me in. Being a fan of Stephen Hunter's books and the Bob Lee Swagger character also drew me to the show. In the beginning I was surprised that I wasn't sitting there criticizing for not conforming to the book. I enjoyed it and the fact that I polished of all the episodes in 4 days means for me it was pretty good.

I saw Dunkirk a few days ago. It was awesome. I definitely disagree with the people who had issues with the editing. I thought that the broken timelines served to elongate the stories of multiple sides of singular events that lasted only a minute or two. For example: plane vs boat vs onlookers. 3 perspectives, 3 stories, one event.
This one will definitely win awards. It had particularly good sound.
