Thread: What was the last TV Show or Movie you saw, and did you like it?

Watched "Frances Ferguson" on Prime. Very good film, verging on genius IMO. It's really low-key and odd. Nick Offerman narrates the story.

No action. Nothing particularly profound happens. No redemption. It's a slice of life and, like a slice of pie you cut for just yourself, no one cares if it looks pretty on the plate.

Watched "Scotland, PA" on Prime yesterday. It's a great retelling of "MacBeth" set around a hamburger joint in 1970's small-town Pennsylvania. Dark comedy.

Wife and I started "Mare of Easttown" on HBONow. Detective drama series, set in a crappy little Pennsylvania town. Through the second episode. Not a happy meal, but quite good.

Avenue 5 on HBO. Comedy about a spaceship cruise liner that goes off course. Pretty funny. Won't spoil it.

I watched Army of the Dead on Netflix. It delivered exactly what it promised: a casino vault heist in zombie infested Las Vegas. I enjoyed it. It wasn’t a bad way to kill two hours.

    Possible minor spoiler:

I still don’t understand why they needed the safecracker character besides comic relief. The guy putting the heist together was the owner of the casino. Wouldn’t he know the combination to his own vault?

I just finished all 12 seasons of NYPD Blue on Hulu. I've been working on them for months and enjoyed every episode. I watched the show when it was running and enjoyed it. Enough water has gone under the bridge since it wrapped and it still holds up as a great show. Especially Dennis Franz.

The Bad Batch. The Star Wars animated, aside from The Mandalorian, has far surpassed the live action movies as far as quality. It’s basically become DC Comics 2.0.

Coincidentally, we just finished them up too. My wife had watched the series when it aired. I hadn't. She talked me into giving it a try on Hulu.

I liked it alot. Franz steals the show.

Law and Order, SVU - my wife likes. One of the stupidest episodes ever.

    1. Psychopath fools all the shrinks for 8 years and gets sent home. He then stalks Rollins' kids.
    2. Dad takes him back but buys a 1911 just in case. Great plan.
    3. Psycho stabs everyone to death except sister who is elsewhere.
    4. Sister is at a house. Cops say we will provide 24/7 cop outside. DEAD MAN! This is such a cliche - how many cops outside are killed!!
    5. He grabs sister
    6. They figure out he is going to the amusement park because of some earlier psychodrama
    7. The locals take their own sweet time to arrive.
    8. SVU searches and Rollins (the blonde) figures out he is in the house of mirrors. Ice-T says wait. In she goes. Of course, you can't figure out where he is in the house of mirrors.
    9. Finds him with the 1911 to the sister's head. Periodically he moves the gun away from the head - Shoot him - why no! Let's talk.
    10. Somehow she gets him to give the gun to the sister and she flees.
    11. Then where is her gun. She sits down with him to talk about his issues - how about shooting him, pointing a gun at him.
    12. He surrenders and is cuffed. In all this, no one enters - they are trying to drop mirrors into the fun house but stymied by the mirrors of the fun house.
    13. Later, Rollins visits him in prison and says that when he gets out, if she sees him stalking her again, she will kill him - Duh. He does a cheap Hannibal Lecter type grin.

Wife tells me not to watch the show with her but admits this is really a stupid show.
