Yup. So it's obvious that "realism" is being sacrificed for the story. I like the series enough I'm okay with it. I wonder which version of "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" I'll hear tonight.

I watched Justified when I was working with the US Marshals Violent Offender Task Force. We thought it was great, albeit we knew a lot of what Raylan did would get you fired in the real world. Still, it was a nice escape to the land of "Wouldn't it be cool if we could do it like Raylan did?"

Justified is one of my favorite shows. I liked the fact they didn't make him into this perfect Dudley Do Right type character. His flaws are what made him interesting. Like the fact he could shoot but couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag, or his poor choices with women. I've always felt Winona was a detriment to Raylan, not the other way around. One thing I always noticed about the show was it appeared that Timothy Olyphant never quite got comfortable walking in cowboy boots. He had this weird gait in the show that doesn't appear in other stuff he's been in.

Raylan could scrap, and he won more fights than he lost. But yeah there were a couple times he got stomped.

I forget where, but I read a review or article or something where it was suggested that Elmore Leonard's works are really love stories hiding in action/adventure stories.

Just finished the Rankin/Bass Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman with my 3-year-old. Not new (Rudolph is over half a century old, Frosty's almost there), but the classics are classics for a reason.

I rented Mile 22. It was so bad I decided to cut my losses after 30 minutes. The editing, soundtrack, shaky cam, bizarre characters, just were annoying as hell. I can deal with bad acting, writing, etc, but nope, not all that.

ROCCO, the 2016 documentry, about the Italian male porn star on Netflix.

If you wanted/needed proof that living on the absolute edge of hedonism won’t make you happy and you’ll be in the company of a bunch of utter fuckups, give it a watch. The hedonic treadmill in action via this guy’s life is something. There is a fair bit of pseudo-intellectual justification for what people do, but it falls painfully flat for anyone with sense.

⚠️ It was astonishingly sexually graphic without being actual pornography. The opening shot is of what the guy is famous for.
