About my Henry rifle problems. The .44 Mag would not feed reliably regardless of brand of ammo. The .357's lever would fly open when the tube was loaded to capacity. The factory repaired both on their dime.

My 45-70 has had zero issues. l like these rifles. The however part of the statement is that if I were using a lever rifle for bear protection, I would spend the coin to buy an older Marlin 45-70. I owned these at one time. They are well made and proven. If I did use a Henry for serious purpose, it would be a model with side loading. These statements are opinion based on experience with both brand. Bias often makes up opinion. I favor the older Marlins but have no data to show that Henry levers are not as good.

I'm going to be smart and not buy this, so I thought I'd leave it here for one of y'all.

I've got 5 lever guns and looking for number 6.
    Guide Gun in 45-70, 336 in 30-30, M39 in 22, 1894 in 44 mag, 1894 in 41 Mag...

Number 6 will be a Marlin in 357

Come to think of it, Number 7 will be a 336 with a straight pistol grip

    Number 8 will be a 336 in 35 Rem

Number 9 will be a M39 with a straight stock

Number 10 will be a Winchester in 375 Winchester

I think that will fill the bill...unless I can find a 1894 in 45 Colt

I’m going the other way. Still have my eyes on a couple of 32-20’s.

I have a 30AW that was a Walmart 30-30 model with basic wood. I bought mine about 20 years ago from a friend's pawnshop. It was brand new still in the box. I think I paid $200. It's a blast to shoot and I would never sell it.

I saw this a while back on Instagram. Madpigcustoms has been cerekoting and posting pics on Instagram of several Marlin lever guns recently that people are modifying. While I doubt I would do something like this to a lever gun, it seems to be done right if you want one Tacticool.

I found something cool Saturday, at least to me. Laid back a Winchester 94AE in 30-30, 20” barrel. What’s cool is it’s a 100th anniversary rifle, so it’ll match my 94 Trapper in 44 Mag that’s also a 100th anniversary model.

I’ve e been wanting a 94 in 30-30 for a while, and passed on a couple of rifles that were in rougher shape. Glad I held out now.
