Sorry if this has been discussed in the 86 previous pages, but what is the scoop on new production Marlin 1894s in 38/357 magnum? Is there a serial number range to look for on recent production ones? Not interested in trying to source/pay for a vintage Marlin.
I've been looking hard for a manually operated rifle. Even though it's a just-for-fun gun, I don't want to deal with the nightmarish quality/reliability issues I've read about in the past.
From guys who actually work on them...

shootist26,we've seen a few, very few small issues, stock and forend stain not matching and a stiff action on one 1894C,all of which Marlin fixed quickly.I'd buy a new Marlin without hesitation.I especially like the 1894CST and the 1894C.
I recently picked up this Winchester 1894 AE in .44 Magnum. I love it. It’s very light and handy. I need to find some aperture sights for it, probably the WWG type.

Curious what you'd think of this combination. If the dovetails are "standard," it should all work. The Williams web site is hard to use, but you should be able to confirm applicability there.
Might need a different height, but this is what matched my Marlin .357:

Put the ghost ring from this set on the blade above:

The parts are aluminum, so may not take being dropped on the sights as well as steel, but they seem to work for my weird eyes.

I was into 10mm Auto before it sold out and went mainstream, but these days I'm here for the revolver and epidemiology information.
