I travel to the CVA area fairly regularly, but haven't done much exploring beyond work. It's my goal to make it to Ace's BBQ next time. Driving from Reagan Nat'l, there is a great Italian diner around Culpepper (can't remember the name right now).

Anyone recommend any favorite gun shops around the area? Feel free to PM if inappropriate to post. Thanks!

Depending on how you're driving from DCA to CVA, but if you're going 66 W to 29 S, you simply must check out Moo Thru in Remington, VA.

I highly recommend going to Central Virginia Sporting Clays for the BEST Sporting Clays Range in the State: Acres of Clays, Variety of Targets, Beautiful Property, Quality Operations. (Flying Rabbit being the 2nd Best). It is a little south of Charlottesville. http://www.centralvasportingclays.com/

If you are travelling via I66 to Route 29 South, definitely stop into The Gun Shop: http://www.justtactical.com/findus.html

And, the premier Gun Shops in NoVa are:
    Virginia Arms, Manassas, VA http://www.virginiaarms.com/
Sharpshooters (And Range) Lorton, VA http://www.sharpshootersva.com/
    Nova Armament, Herndon, VA http://www.novaarmament.com/

    Others to consider:
    NRA Range, Fairfax, VA
    Elite Shooting Sports Range: http://www.eliteshootingsports.com/

Have not been there in years, but in Culpepper there was a little restaurant named DeeDee's that had friendly service and good food.

I will concur with the Moo Thru recommendation...great stuff.

I also have had good experiences at The Bavarian Chef in Madison...I recommend getting a Boot while you are there

Appreciate all of the good suggestions. Makes travel more fun.

FredM/gghost - tried MooThru this afternoon. Confirmed, it was excellent. I pulled into the Bavarian Chef but it is closed on Tuesdays, so might have to stop there next time.

TCinVA - I've eaten at Trivinia a couple of times and it's always good. A favorite, and close to where I generally stay, which is handy.

cclaxton- I browsed the Gun Shop. Nearly drove right past it, since it's almost hidden by a Kubota dealership. I showed restraint and passed on a clean, used USP 40, this time
