Based on the time stamps, that was not an intentional dogpile. It's all good

I made an assumption and passed it off as fact......so definitely my mistake.

I have a Gen 3 34 and a buddy has a Gen 4 35 .The 34 slide had materiel (lightning cut)removed on the opposite side of the ejection port , the 35 did not.

At the risk of piling on, isn't the slide of the G22 and G35 the same weight? Isn't that why they have those cuts in the G34/G35 slides so they weigh the same as their G17/G22 siblings?

Thats what I was always told but my 34 slide does weigh a little more than my 17 slides.I don't have numbers right now but they were close .One example on one postal scale so as always YMMV ...

OK, on a scale at work the Glock 34 slide weighed 13 oz and the 17 slide was 12 3/4 . I don't think that extreme minor difference means much...

I find a 17 to be significantly more tolerant of lower power factor ammo than a 34. Not sure how much is pure weight, and how much is weight distribution or something else.

I have been told that Gaston spent a lot of effort with different prototypes and movable weights to settle on the G17 size and weight to optimize functioning.

I find the recoil impulse to be "slower" on the 34 as well . Almost like I'm waiting for the front sight to come back down on target ,compared to the Glock 17 .

Now I only own two pistols that can shoot 40. One gun is a Glock 20SF 10mm with a 40 conversion barrel. Its considerably bigger/heavier than the standard Glock 40, but I have no concerns about its longevity. That one gets carried up in the mountains as a woods gun - often when bowhunting.

    Just another data point.
