This is my basic stuff that I always bring -

    Gun Stuff:
    -Gun
    -Backup gun
    -Ammo
    -Mags (at least 5)
    -Maglula
-Electronic Hearing protection (w/spare batteries) – Howard Leight
-Foam ear plugs (I double up) - Howard Leight Max-1
-Eye protection (sunglasses) – ESS Crossbow
    -Holster
    -Mag holders for belt (2)
    -Dump pouch
    -Belt - wilderness frequent flyer

    Tools:
    -Glock tools
    -Spare parts
    -All cleaning supplies,lube, etc
    -Glock sight tool
    -Leatherman (big),small, bits
    -Knife
    -Flashlight

    Misc Clothes:
    -baseball Hat
    -boonie hat
    -elbow pads
    -knee pads

    Food:
    Water
    Snacks
    Lunch

    Misc:
    Sun screen
    Bug spray
    Pen
    Paper
    Chair
    First aid
    Paper towels

I also always wear boots with polyurethane midsoles because I am inevitably always on gravel at classes and EVA soles don't cut it for me. The rocks push through the bottoms and my feet hurt like crazy. I suppose you can get Dr. Scholls inserts on any boot...whatever you think works best. I use Oregon Aero® ShockBlockers® Insole Insert and love them even on polyurethane boots. Green superfeet didn't work for me.

    Heh.

    There is no final platform.

I've seen a couple of really good threads on what to take/what to do/what to avoid for your first class. Really useful stuff, like a notebook and pen for taking notes, chow, spare parts, etc.

Bug juice is really important in a range bag.

I wore Keens (like with no socks) at the last class I went to, since I knew it was going to be rainy and warm. I was pretty happy with that, although an occasional rock removal was required -- no soaked socks.
