Thread: Lateral POI change with different load

  1. #11
We tried 125 gr truncated cone cast bullets in lieu of 148 gr wadcutters for the closer PPC stages.
They were adequately accurate for 7 and 15 yards and had almost no recoil vs light recoil. Easy to speed load, too.
But they shot left on target. I was in the habit of making elevation adjustments, but a windage change going from 15 to 25 yards was just more than I wanted to fool with, so I dropped the project.
Gun was a 6" Python, Colt Custom Shop Tedford action job.

I shot the following target a while back. Only shot two rounds with each load because I thought fatigue might negatively effect the results. Was interested in POI with different loads in my then new S&W M69 (5 shot L Frame .44 Mag). All loads shot from a rest at 25 yards with the rear sight bottomed out. Center diamond was POA for all shots. All shot within 15 minutes at most. Thought it might be of some interest as it relates to this thread.
