    dry fire timer

Really loved the above par timer and used it often but now it seems to be gone.

Any suggestion on finding it or another one close to it?

I just use an iPhone shottimer app with a Par feature.

I set the time for what I can't quite make (say 1.8s to draw) then wait for the BEEEP. If I click before Par time I made it.

Kind of a PITA to reset everytime, but it works.

Ben Stoeger suggests you don't drop the hammer when dry firing holster draws with a timer. Just confirm with your sight picture.

Don't have a cell phone, just the site above and my computer
A laser lyte cartridge worked well on the above timer and target

I didn't realize that. It is not the way I read his books. Some of his dry drills say shoot and other say confirm sight picture. I have never trained with him though.

Can you explain to this noob just exactly what you mean by 'confirm sight picture'? How is it different using/not using a hammer drop? Thanx!

Ben mentions in Training to Win that you don't want to pull the trigger when drawing and chasing par times, since this can lead to snatching the trigger horribly. If you are trying to achieve really fast draws, he explains that you should draw until you have a good sight picture on the target, without pulling the trigger.

Stoeger is 50million times the shooter.. But if you draw quick and snatch the trigger in dry fire.. Won't you do that in live fire unless you practice drawing fast and smoothly pulling the trigger?

Why don't you just buy............a timer?

Mine (CED) can be used in par timer mode, or any other number of modes. I suspect most others brands have pretty much the same functions.

And then you can take it to the range and time your live fire drills too.
